As a young adult, searching for a job that ticks all the right boxes is hard. If you’ve ever experienced such setbacks, then the Kickstart Scheme might be right for you.
The Kickstart Scheme at Guinness Care offers young adults on Universal Credit a unique opportunity to develop a long-term, stable and fulfilling career in care - one of the UK’s most important and respected industries.
Through a 6-month paid-placement, you’ll learn new skills from our expert teams and gain a foothold in this growing sector, while making meaningful impact on some of the most vulnerable people in the local community.
To give you a better idea of what it’s like to work with Guinness Care through Kickstart, we caught up with Dan, one of the newest members of the Finance Team, to learn about his experiences so far:
How has your experience been with Guinness Care so far?
It’s been really good working here as the people are very nice and I like that I’m able to learn new finance software as part of my role.
How has Kickstart made a difference to you?
Before joining Guinness Care, I was having trouble finding a job that was either at my level or suitable for me and I feel like this was due to the pandemic. However, Kickstart really helped because I was able to get good information on what jobs were available, and then I found a job that was suitable for me in Finance. I am hoping to gain new experience in this role and in this sector of care.
What would you say to those who are still thinking about a paid placement through Kickstart?
Kickstart can give you experience in an area that you want to work in or you can use it to find out if a new career path is right for you.
The advice I would give to others is to be patient; everything takes time and sometimes it’ll take time to find the best job for you.
