Our Stories

Collage of staffWe have seen an immense amount of kindness and support towards our carers, our customers, and between colleagues as we work together through the coronavirus pandemic.

On this page, we share some heart-warming stories from across Guinness Care, of how people are going above and beyond to support others through these challenging times.

Supporting our customers

The team at Hanover Court, Cinderford, were dancing and spreading some joy to our customers during lockdown. They weren’t just doing the dance once, but three times – once for each side of the building! Every week customers joined in from their windows and doors.

Watch until the end for a big cheer for our amazing Care and Support staff!

Lisa, a carer in Crewe, received a Thank You Award in appreciation of her great work and kindness. She used her own mobile phone to video call a customer’s daughter who was very upset about not being able to see her family during lockdown.

Lisa said: "Betty was so sad and just wanted to see her daughter. I text Betty’s daughter and asked if we could Facetime as her mum wanted to see her, and she agreed straight away. I gave Betty my phone so she could see and talk to her daughter. She was so happy, and when I left Betty said that I'd made her day!”

The Devon Care at Home team received a lovely email from the granddaughter of one of their customers, along with a donation of mask comforters designed to help prevent sore ears.

“Your team do a wonderful job and my Granny is always thankful for your support, as are we as a family. Although I live nearby, to keep Granny safe, I have not visited now for over a month and it is so hard not to see her, but I’m so grateful she sees one of your team every day.”
